English NOTEs

News From the english club underground....

For anyone that missed bowling you missed a great night. We had 8 total members show up for the Godot celebration, and had some times that will not easily be forgoten. Remember to be a member you dont have to be involved with every activity. We arent keeping score. :)

It was brought to my attention that some are interested in a christmas party or christmas dinner? Does anyone else show interest? If there is interest a couple of us can get cracking on a date, as well as a location.

Also we have been offered to help run some of the recycling on the third floor. picking up boxes and such. Anyone interested in that? I would really like to see someone that has been sitting in the wings to take charge of this. We need more club participation in the back row here. How about some recruitment of some underclassman for this one? Remember being in a club and being a part of an activity, as well as organizing it and leading it is not only good for your character--but your resume!!!

And then this thursday we will be running the book sale all day. Be sure to bring in your used books and come and purchase a used one! We currently are hosting all subjects of books, from fantasy to fiction to the book of morman to the phsycology of bees ( i dunno if that one is really there) If you would like to help with the book sale just stop by durring your free period at the writting center. That is where we will be holding the sale.

Another thing to mention I think Pride and prejudice opens next week sometime. I know I will be going. I am not sure of opening times and such. But I was thinking we could all meet up somewhere---those that want to see it.

I believe that Harry potter is a big one to. I'll be there for that one. If anyone would like to come.....

"Albus Dumbledore: Dark and difficult times lie ahead, Harry. Soon we must all face the choice between what is right... and what is easy. "

hope this didnt make everyones eyes water because of the lenght.
Alright then Over and out.

Jesi.

I want to see Pride and Prejudice. I am also interested in the Christmas dinner. I have no preferences about time or place though. At least not at this point. Great idea , Jesi!

SLEEPOVER! Come on guys, right before Winter Break, it would be quite fun...we could play literary pictionary and watch Monty Python and eat. I like all your other ideas, as well, Jesi.

Christmas Party!!! Where? When? We need to do something. We don't have to exchange gifts, but we should at least eat some food and do something entertaining. Just a thought. The holidays will be here and gone before we know it...

Possible Dates:

December 16th or 17th the week following finals. ( the 17th is the date of a campus orientation in which we plan on having a shared table with the I.C. crew)

Possible Locations:
1. What about the school? Could we borrow the union and a movie projecter?
2. Someones house if we'd like to make it an alnighter?
3. meet at a restaurant? (not denny's haha)

honestly I love sarah's idear, it sounds fun, completely delightful (much like sarah awe.) A potluck and pictionary party would be so much fun! We just need a time and place.
Discuss the ideas in the writting center and we can decide and get out an email quik so people can do what they can to come!

HAPPY DAYS

It tells you something about how surreal the blog story is that the spam doesn't really seem out of place!

One response to Jesi's comments on the sleepover -- for the Union, you'd have to check with Elise. I have no idea if an overnighter is doable. And I don't think the campus has anything in the way projectors (if you mean actual reel-to-reel films). The Union does have that big-screen TV (I assume it has a VCR/DVD player?). There are also the overhead projectors in classrooms, or in Bromfield 117 (which is not as comfy as the Union, but the tables and chairs to be moved to the sides, or whatever).

You could check with one of the hotels to see if they would be willing to donate one of their small meeting rooms on a night when they dont have it booked. The Red Roof Inn used to loan these out to nonprofit groups for such occasions, maybe one of the local hotels would too.

yeah, i agree with hamlin - talk to elise about doing the sleep over if you want to because we've done that in the past for CAB...i think you may just have to reserve it or something, i'm not totally sure how she got it hooked up, but i know its doable since it's for english club -- don't really expect me there for that one though...sleepovers..haha...unless you have food...then i'll stop through...
