Course Description
English 110.01 is an introductory writing course designed especially
for first-year students at Ohio State. It provides you with
instruction and practice in reading and analyzing
a range of material;
writing formal and informal print and web-based documents; conducting both primary
and secondary research; and
working with a range of computer software programs.
The overall goal of English 110.01 is to help you become a more capable
and more confident reader and writer of visual and verbal
documents.

Major Assignments
Detailed descriptions of all assignments are linked from the class calendar. They include:
- A journal for reflecting on the processes you use to produce communication; bring this to every class, because every class will end with 5-10 minutes of writing.
- A 500-word letter to the editor on a social issue of your choosing.
- A documentary photography "book" (created in Powerpoint) on your social issue.
- A research web site (the equivalent of a 5-7 page paper, plus images) on the same topic as your letter to the editor and documentary photography project.
