Importance of Lyrics
Music is a very important part in the everyday lives of youth today. What impacts them the most is the lyrics that are sang that make the music what it is. Thaose mlyrics can make or break the healthy developmental cycle of our kids. Many musicians today are trying to positively influence and direct todays youth through their lyrics. Many parents are upset by some of the artists out there trying to corrupt the minds of todays young adults. While there are musicians who do this many parents of teens fail in trying to find those artists who are trying to make a difference. Instead of listening to or reading the lyrics musicians put into there songs, parents often rule them out by the style or genre of music instead of what goes into that particular artists music. Local musician and guitarist Joshua Bower of the band 40 Day Flood talks about what goes into the lyrics and making of his bands music."When i write music i write about stuff that has happened to or impacted me or someone i know personally. We do this because we know the stuff that we go through also happens to and affects our listeners as well.Our band trys to let todays teenagers know that the stuff that they face, others face it to and it is not always as bad as it seems at the time. There is always a solution to the things we face and someone out there who has been through the same things and wants to help you through it. We as a band try the best we can to help others who face the same things we all do the best way we know how, through our music."
There are musicians out there who try and corrupt our teenagers minds, however there are many good, popular musicians trying their best to help our kids with there every day problems, by offering positive solutions and sharing life experiences through their lyrics.Parents should be concerened with what there kids are listening to, but they should also try and find alternatives and give those artists out there trying to make a differance a chance. Kids struggle with many problems daily many of them dealing with relationship problems. By letting them know they are not alone, that others feel the same as they do.
