Principal scholarly and research interests include interface and interaction theory; phenomenology of communication; cultural studies; social studies of science, technology and innovation; gender and sexuality; theories of the body and memory; performance and performance studies; and science fiction. Recent publications include: The War of Desire and Technology at the Close of the Mechanical Age, (MIT, 1995); "Will The Real Body Please Stand Up: Boundary Stories About Virtual Cultures," in M.
