In Costa Rica, the Hymenoepimecis sp. wasp and the orb-weaving Plesiometa argyra spider have developed an unfortunate parasitic relationship. Unfortunate, at least, for the spider.

The wasp lays an egg in the spider's abdomen. For a week or two, the spider continues building normal webs, while the wasp's egg hatches and the larva develops inside.
