![]() new orderlyOne night, the wasp induces the spider (apparently chemically) to build a "cocoon web," kills and eats the spider, and spins its cocoon, which hangs by a thread from the web its host has created. At first glance, the web appears completely disorganized. The spider, it seems, has gone insane. Looking for other possibilities, examining juxtapositions (Oh, look! A cocoon!) leads to the recognition of a new order, a new sense from nonsense. It is the possibility of similar explanatory or interpretive power deriving from serendipitous connections that makes the nature of webbed texts so provocative. |
