The English Club is the principal student organization for English majors at
OSU Mansfield, and it coordinates all student activities related to the department,
including The Immaculate Cauldron. Its purpose is to acquaint students with
the various programs available in English studies at OSU Mansfield and to
provide opportunities in informal social settings for students and faculty
to share mutual interests. Activities include poetry readings, lectures by
guest speakers, lunches and afternoon coffee house "get-acquainted" sessions,
seminars on career opportunities, and field trips to plays and other literary
events. is the club's advisor. |

Each year, awards are given for the best student writing in the genres of poetry,
short fiction, and non-fiction essay (The Across the Curriculum Essay Contest).
In each category, the first prize winner receives $100 and the second prize
$50, and winning entries are often published in The Immaculate Cauldron.
