New Media Profile Assignment

Using a variety of new media technologies, create a self-portrait that utilizes the dynamic, timed writing environment of Flash MX 2004.  Your new media profile should combine image, text, and/or sound while conveying a theme, message, or argument that identifies you in one way or another. 

 Your self-portrait might be very short in length--maybe ten to twenty seconds total--but should, at the same time, be rich in layers of meaning.  You should begin collecting material for your self-portrait while you consider these layers of meaning. 

This assignment will make up 10% of your final grade.  However its purpose is to get you acquainted with the technologies you might use in your final class project; therefore the time and effort you put into it will be reflected positively in later assignments.   We will begin working on this project on Thursday, April 15, but you should come to class that day with a definite idea of what your “argument” about yourself will be, and what images, texts and/or sounds you want to incorporate to make that argument.
