The Writing Center is now online. You can talk with a writing center consultant from your home.

How it works:

Email the writing center at writingcenter@osu.edu to schedule an appointment. Please attach a draft of your paper, either as a .doc or .rtf file. Let us know when you would like to schedule an appointment. It is also helpful to include what course your paper is for and its due date.

Our hours for online consultation are Monday - Thursday 8 A.M.-6 P.M., Friday 11 A.M.-4 P.M.

Special appointments outside of these regular times can be made with a consultant.

We will email you back confirming your time and a code to access the consultation. There will also be a link included that will take you directly to a website to enter this code. Click on this link.

Warning: Once you are re-directed to the website you will be asked to download the Download Software.

The software may begin to download automatically.

If the software does not automatically download, you will be prompted. Select “OK” and it the download will begin.

Next you will be asked to enter your “Meeting ID” number. Simply copy and paste the code from your email.

The system will connect you to a consultant. It will ask you to enter your name and email.

When you need to talk to the consultant, click the “To” tab that is under the chat box, select “All”. You only have to do this once.

If you would like a copy of the chat log from the consultation, please ask us to e-mail it to you. This will be beneficial to you if you need to refer back to the session. You can also stop by writing center on campus to get a print-out of the chat.
