MTV's in the New Media Vanguard Hiz-ouse?!?

Well, they did have that show on M2 where people would do mash-ups of video games and music videos (is that tripe even still on?). Now, their college cable station MTVU is set to showcase full-on new media combo projects from participating students as part of their Digital Incubator project. See what happens when mobile, video, audio, and other random digital media stop being polite and start getting real.

Yet Another Round of Shameless Self-Promotion

I guess by now this feature is regular enough that it warrants its own category, but hindsight and all that, right?  (Plus, I'm too lazy to go back and tag all my previous posts, and where's the joy in aimless, seredipitous exploration?)  Anyhoo, let me direct readers to a couple of places where my name has popped up recently, discovered thanks to my OCD-fueled, high-frequency ego-trolling:

I was recently quoted in the materials accompanying the NCTE's policty statement on multimodal literacySo does that make me an authority now?  Can I finally charge a speaking fee?  An autograph fee?  All I know is that if I ever get powerful enough to warrant a rider, I'm demanding deep-fried Twinkies up in all my green rooms.

Also, some kind soul (Heather Speweik) saw fit to cite me in a delightfully punky article on composition pedagogy entitled "Entertain Us: A Learning Philosophy Segmented Essay." Color me tickled to be mentioned in the same piece as Nirvana, Rilke, and Quintilian...

Finally, let me pitch an upcoming appearance: I, along with my cohorts Katie Braun and Amie Wolf, will be reprising my role as an advocate for a new-media-infused basic writing curriculum next week at OHECC, which will be held on OSU's main campus.

A (Brief) Reflection on Connectivity

One of the benefits of being on such a small campus is that the challenge of connectivity scales down rather nicely.  We're practically all wireless now: I've got essentially a car-to-office-to-classroom solution, if I needed it (And is that a bane or boon?  I'm not sure).  If only the same were true of my cell phone signal...
